3KCBWDAY6 - Improving Your Skill Set

Day 6 of Knitting and Crochet Blog Week ~ Improving your Skill Set

How far down the road to learning your craft do you believe yourself to be? Are you comfortable with what you know or are you always striving to learn new skills and add to your knowledge base? Take a look at a few knitting or crochet books and have a look at some of the skills mentioned in the patterns. Can you start your amigurumi pieces with a magic circle, have you ever tried double knitting, how's your intarsia? If you are feeling brave, make a list of some of the skills which you have not yet tried but would like to have a go at, and perhaps even set yourself a deadline of when you'd like to have tried them by.

I think that there will always be something more to learn, in life as well as in crocheting {and possibly knitting one day too!}.  I hope that I will never be the kind of person that just says, "Yep, I'm good and don't need to learn anything more."  I love learning new things, its such a thrill and a rush when you learn something new and then master it.

Right now I feel like I have all the basics in crochet down and then some. I don't shy away from patterns that are advanced, they may take me some more time to complete, but I am able to complete them {every blue moon having to look a thing or two up ;) }.

I would love to one day be able to master the more detailed lace pattern stitches and the skills it takes to make stuffed animals oh so cute! Those are def. goals of mine....also to make some adult clothing patterns since I have quite a few children ones right now. :)

In the next few years, I plan to try and learn how to knit again.....the first time was an epic fail for me but I would love to try again.  The knitting patterns always look so dreamy to me when I am surfing the web for yarn goodness.

My hope is that I will constantly keep learning new things, with my fiber crafts, all my other crafting adventures, and life in general.  I wish we all kept that same thirst for knowledge that kids have, its so amazing!

Life is a wip kind of journey, meant to be enjoyed fully! :)
